Less than a half-mile from Pilsen's bustling 18th Street, Lo Rez sits on quieter, semi-industrial strip of Carpenter. The crowd is a diverse blend of cheerful beer lovers who cherish the opportunity to drink with friends in a unique space. With outdoor-only seating at this time, you can't quite enjoy the gorgeous, loft-like space filled with warm wood and artwork, but it's ok, because you'd probably want to sit outside on their patio deck anyway. Dogs and kids are allowed, but make sure your pups are leashed and well-behaved. Same goes for the kiddos.

The first time we visited post-shutdown, we were greeted by Jesse, who was hosting that night. (This is newer for them now that "self seating" isn't encouraged, depending on where you visit.) Jesse was laid-back, funny, kind and very accommodating. His positive attitude and genuine friendliness made our night, and it had only just begun.

Ordering and payment is 100% through your phone here. Think Amazon, but then beer comes to your table instead. They offer their own snacks if you need a nosh, and there was also a tamale vendor set up on the patio that night.

Their current beer list has a focus on Belgian-styles, saisons, stouts and Berliner-Weisses. Some are more traditional, while others are brewed with flavorful twists like Mango and Thai Chile.

Feeling peckish after a few brews? Take that half mile walk, ride, drive or scoot over to 18th Street, and simply let your nose guide you. If you're craving Mexican or Latin cuisine, you will find yourself in the right place.

And on that note, if you find that you tend to stick to the North Side for your brewery pleasures, do yourself a flavor and head south. In addition to Lo Rez, you'll find Alulu (which is a stone's throw away), Motor Row, Moody Tongue, Marz and Whiner, to name a few. Salud!
